Haman Compulation/ Re- Captcha

So, today was the first of our movie Mondays and we watched a short 12 minute video on the new re- CAPTCHA operation that was started about a year ago. The man in the video explained that this was a new way for people to use the wasted time from typing out CAPTCHA’s and do something good with it. His solution was to get people to work together globally to decipher the words that a computer program cannot when it is scanning a book or document into the computer. By doing this we have been able to bring books into the computer in much less time than labourers would have and it is also a better way because these people are not being paid as well as they should be. I think that this idea was a very good one. Untill watching this, I never would have thought about all the time that is being wasted typing CAPTCHA’s out. It is bringing the internet together and it is a win win situation for everyone. If more of these types of ideas start flowing through thing computer, I think that we can begin to accomplish things faster.
